From Goldfish to Clownfish, Designing the Perfect Disney Bathroom

If you’re anything like me, you want to incorporate Disney into your home, and what better way than with themed rooms? The only problem? Everyone seems to do the same themes over and over again. From the “be our guest” kitchen to the The Little Mermaid themed bathroom, very few seem to be unique. But what if there was a perfect bathroom theme- that did not feature our favourite red head from under the sea? These Finding Nemo products are sure to bring your bathroom to life, and the best part? Each fairly priced piece is mature, not something you will find in the kids’ section!

The first piece I tried was a surprisingly comfy bath mat. This beautiful piece is available on Redbubble in both 24×17 inches ($22.22) and 34x21inches ($29.30). Sporting a slip resistant back and white background, this bath mat features water color style art of the characters from the movie. The featurless style is adorable, while also being more mature than other options on the market.

Now don’t worry! I too was very weary of all the white- but it is actually both kid and pet friendly! I use this mat in my downstairs half-bath and it frequently gets muddy (much thanks to my puppy for that one!). However, a quick trip in the washer with the rest of my kitchen and bathroom towels, and it’s looking brand new! For Disney fans who love supporting small name artists, Redbubble is the perfect shop! This cute design is actually available on a variety of products through GracieMarx’s shop, and shipping was even quite fast!

While searching for a bathmat I liked, I came across an amazing  wooden sign (shown above)! It’s available on Etsy for $28.00 and the 10.5 by 10.5 inch sign is well worth the price. It’s crafted using a quality wood and has a built in bracket for hanging, while also being thick enough to stand on a counter or other flat surface. The best part of course is the quote! I says “wow, that’s a pretty big butt” just like the little octopus says dring the feild trip to the drop off- moments before Nemo is taken! It also signs off as “-Nemo” and has a picture of a clownfish so no one thinks you’re being rude! While I was personally back and forth on this sign, it is in my half bath that guests use after all, I came to learn that others undertsood it was a quote and love it as much as I do!

The next essential piece to any bathroom is of course… a hand towel! After searching off and on for months I could not find a reasonably priced towel that wasn’t bright orange with googly eyes. But long behold, Hobbly Lobby had a cute and easy solution! I came across this iron on patch  in my local store for $6.99. I paired it with a $2 hand towel from Walmart and wah-lah! A cute and affordable option (featured above). This simple iron on patch takes no skill either, even the least artsy of fans can pull this one off, and in under 5 minutes too! Simply warm your iron up (hack, if you don’t have a clothes iron I’ve seen people use hair straighteners), place the patch where you want it to be, and apply the iron! Hold it for a few seonds and you are good to go! I’ve also washed this hand towel a few times now with no issue, but if it were to start lifting, just pull the iron out again and it’s good as new!

Of course, we are still missing a couple of pieces. For those with a larger bathroom the first thing is that the walls are looking pretty bare at this point, but fear not! With these paint safe wall stickers from Amazon (costing $7.99), you are sure to splash right into the amazing world of our “bubbly” friend Nemo. Next, we of course need soap! While I could not find any Nemo specific dispensers that were a mature artwork style, I did find three options I loved!

Three disposable Mickey and Minnie Mouse soap dispencers in various colors.

The first is the simple fish soap bottles (the nostalgia!), these can be found in the hand soap section at Kroger, Walgreens, Walmart, and most other grocery stores that also happen to have a pharmacy. The second is Mickey Mouse hand soap bottles, these (while not avaible online) can be found in Walmarts worldwide (Walmart has had a big uprise in the number over Mickey Mouse products available over the past year)! Finally the adorable Mickey mouse reusable soap dispenser is widely avaible in-store at TJ Maxx (it’s actually in my Mickey and Minnie themed kitchen, but is perfect for any Disney bathroom as well)!

Stitch Crashes Disney Review: Neverland Edition

With the release of “Stitch Crashes Disney” series eleven, fans rushed to the site to get their own plushie which features a perfect combination of evil and sass. Series eleven featured a Neverland theme from the popular Disney classics Peter Pan and Peter Pan Returns to Neverland. After the plushie sold out in just a matter of days, there are a few big questions from fans who were not lucky enough to snag one—how much are they going for now on used sites, and is it worth the price?

Originally $30, the plushie is now going for $45-$50 on sites such as Poshmark (only $15-$20 above original retail price), while websites like eBay have the plushie listed for $50-$60. However, if you want the plushie still in its sealed plastic bag, it will cost you closer to $100. So, is it worth it, and if so, should you get it tagged and bagged- or skip the bag to save some money? Let’s start by diving into the details.

This plushie is approximately 12 inches tall and 8 inches across, making it a decent size. It also features a beautiful set of wings similar to Tinkerbell’s and a gorgeous print. The wings are made to look like a dress-up piece with straps but don’t worry, they are sewn to his back and won’t get lost! The print features many of the iconic logos from Peter Pan, including Captain Hook’s ship, the island, and Peter’s shadow. This Stitch plushie also features a silhouette of the ever feisty Tink blowing a kiss on his left ear and an official collection logo on his left foot.

Fun note for collectors- if you buy one from a used site, the logo on his foot is the most obvious differentiation between an original and a look-a-like. His stomach, back, and the inside of his ears are made of a soft, sparkly, faux suede fabric. The stitching is well done and unlikely to fray. For those who are collectors and would leave the tag on, it has some interesting facts inside as well, including “Stitch’s New Life Moto” (which changes with every series, of course)!

Overall, if you want to add this to your collection as a serious collector, it is worth getting it tagged and bagged. However, if it is meant as a toy or just a fun fan piece, it is definitely worth checking out Poshmark and other similar sites! Regardless of your reason to add it to your home, it is a beautiful and well-crafted piece, sure to be loved by Stitch and Peter Pan fans everywhere. Stay tuned for a review of series 12: Mulan.
